House Bill 1016
On January 20th, 2009, Jackie Barrett Sharar testified in favor of House Bill 1016 at the House State Government & Tribal Affairs Committee. This bill would establish legislation that would add the Mayor of Olympia to the capitol campus design advisory committee (CCDAC). This would help strength the coordination and partnership between the capitol campus and the capitol city.

House Bill 2030
On Monday, February 16th, Steering Committee members Peter Stroble, Enid Layes, Maureen Morris and Jackie Barrett Sharar testified at House Local Government and Housing Committee on House Bill 2030, proposed by Local Representative from the 22nd district Sam Hunt. This bill would establish a Capitol City District (i.e., downtown Olympia) and effectively enable the district to keep 1% of the State’s 6.5% sales tax revenue collected inside the district for economic development and infrastructure needs.

Senate Bills 5799 & 5800
Finally, later that same week, five members of OLY 2012 – Sharon Foster, Maureen Morris, Peter Stroble, Enid Layes and Jackie Barrett Sharar – testified on Thursday, February 19th at the Government Operations Committee Senate hearings for Senate Bills 5799 & 5800, the two bills proposed by local Senator Karen Fraser intending to overturn the City of Olympia’s 2008 Comprehensive Plan for the Isthmus properties.
